Federal Government figures show that one-in-eight Victorian households are missing out on thousands of dollars in Child Care Rebate payments.

Up to 100,000 Australian families may be foregoing the much-needed cash. There are more than 180,000 families using child care statewide, with just over 160,000 of those receiving rebates.

Employment Participation and Child Care Minister Kate Ellis said: "Our Government is delivering record levels of investment in childcare affordability and we want to make sure that all eligible Australian families are taking that assistance up.

"I would urge families using child care to visit the mychild.gov.au website and access the estimator tool, in order to find out what assistance they could be missing out on."

Parents can receive up to $7500 per child.

Australian Childcare Centres Association secretary Frank Cusmano said there was a wealth of information available to parents when enrolling their children in child care as to what benefits they were eligible for.
